Food addiction and many other disordered eating patterns are impacting on the lives of many, especially in this current climate. We are living in a self-soothing society, where more and more of us are reaching for the ‘quick fix’ to make us feel better. For the vast majority, that fix is food. In this course, you will uncover the vital missing piece of the jigsaw that will empower you to help your clients to achieve sustainable results.
In this course, you’ll gain foundational knowledge on what food addiction is and the neuroscience behind it, before learning detailed insights into the factors that trigger food addiction, including predispositions and influences, such as trauma, negative body images and mental health. You will be presented with a number of case study examples and their outcomes, and will develop an in-depth understanding of the signs, symptoms and stages of food addiction progression and its widespread impact on family and society.
You will attain a general level of knowledge on the Motivational Interviewing process and how this can assess where the client is at before being taken on as a client, and will understand the basic needs a client must have to find the motivation to heal and recover from the ravages of food addiction. You will also gain knowledge of other types of eating disorders, and their signs and symptoms.
This course will put you head-and-shoulders above the competition in terms of specialist knowledge, which will positively impact on your clients’ mental and physical wellbeing.

Aims and objectives of course
- Spot the signs, the symptoms and the stages of food addiction progression
- Achieve a level of confidence to correctly assess a client
- Have tools and strategies to assess and help a client with poor body image
- Be fully armed with facts, strategies, tips and tools to help clients cultivate a good level of positive thinking, craving control at home, work or life to navigate potential triggers
- Create an effective recovery plan and have a good understanding of food abstinence plans
- Understand the reasons why clients could potentially relapse, and the signs of an up-and-coming relapse and how to prevent it
