In September, FitPro and ViPR™ hosted the Chain Reaction® two-day seminar in London with Gray Institute®. Chain Reaction, now in its 29th year, is both internationally acclaimed and recognised as the longest running and most successful seminar in the movement industry.
The Gray Institute event sits within the FitPro LIVE branding, and since 2014, FitPro LIVE has shifted its focus towards more intimate and interactive events that provides vital contact time with key educators. FitPro recognised that as PTs become more specialised in their chosen field, they are looking for a unique selling point in this competitive industry. The PTs of 2017 want education that offers them the skills and knowledge to rival their competitors. Despite the growing accessibility of resources online from digital savvy bloggers, it still appears that education wins every time.
At the workshop this year, Gary and the team demonstrated how attendees can effectively apply a functional movement approach to their session offerings. They introduced joint by joint the functional chain reactions of the body’s biomechanics and were taught a systematic approach to building corrective exercises for all activities based on the 3D maps assessment.
The event was well received by attendees and presenters alike. Personal trainers converged from all corners of the globe, demonstrating their commitment to professional development and advancing their knowledge base. Kulwadee ‘Om’ Punlainark travelled all the way from Thailand to attend Chain Reaction and meet Gary Gray in person. “I am so happy to be here,” she said. “I will bring all these new 3D moves to my clients and help them move more successfully.” Roman Caban, a London-based personal trainer and mentor, echoed these sentiments, stating that his key takeaway was to be able to “understand how clients can move, feel and perform better.”
Personal trainer Aaron Barnett has already implemented his knowledge, with some tangible results: “Working with one client in particular, a tennis player, I have been able to assess his movement performance more articulately and now have a deeper understanding of how to take his abilities to the next level. This is all because of what I learnt on the Chain Reaction course. My client already appreciates this and thanks Gary and the Gray Institute team!”

It would appear that the reputation of excellence in relation to the Gray Institute is well received across the industry, with personal trainer Adam Daniel commenting, “I strongly encourage any fitness professional interested in Functional Science to explore the Gray Institute’s new Anterior Chain and Chain Reaction workshops. I promise you it will give you a rock solid foundation for creating individual and effective movement-based training programmes for your clients.”
ViPR was featured as a preferred tool alongside Power Plate®. ViPR was added into the mix to demonstrate how effective it can be at authentically loading functional movement in all three planes of motion. It also proved the perfect tool for cueing and simplifying complex movement patterns and creating subconscious chain reaction biomechanics.
Gary Gray expressed his delight at working with FitPro and some of the most renowned movement specialists in this part of the world, and stressed the importance of ongoing education to enable fitness professionals to “do their jobs better and understand more about the miracle of the human body.”
