Moving through grief – what every coach should know about grief and types of bereavement. JoDee Coulter, personal trainer and grief counsellor in conversation with John Polley (JP).

In this episode, JP explores something which has, or will, affect us all, with grief counsellor, speaker and personal trainer, JoDee Coulter. In a conversation both deep and absorbing, they explore primary grief, and secondary grief – its obvious sibling – which everyone overlooks. They discuss how grief can affect us, but more importantly what we can do about it. And above all, WHO we can be for our clients, friends and family in times of grief. This exchange is peppered with knowledge bombs and realisations that will have you sitting back and reflecting for some time afterwards.

JoDee Coulter is a Bereavement Coordinator Certified in Thanatology with 25 years experience working in the hospice setting. She learned firsthand the role of a caregiver when her husband was diagnosed with a rare adult-onset form of muscular dystrophy (Kennedy’s Disease) just three years into their marriage. JoDee became certified as a personal trainer in 2018 for personal and professional reasons, and is ideally placed to understand what every coach should know about grief and bereavement.

She now combines her passions for fitness, grief, and holistic wellness to support and encourage caregivers; moreover, she works to inspire individuals who want to take their health to a new level. She wants everyone to know how much better you can feel when you move your body, eat well, and have an opportunity for self-expression.
